Totally Green Contest: Boxes

I know this is not original, but I forgot about the contest until today and this is what I came up with. I put together this necklace using metallic beads, glass beads and oh those big beads used to be a Cheerios box. My husband hates when I make these beads because I seal them with clear nail polish.

Lock and Key bracelet

I made 6 (plus two more with chain that I had on hand, not pictured) of these from the supplies that I got and giving some to my friends so it was worth the cost of supplies. You know that I kept one for me (not pictured since I was wearing it, love this bracelet). His and Her's September Challenge

So far I have made these, the picture is using the front of the rule book, money and a matte. I used a Dollar Store frame that I spray painted blue. I used the money to make paper beads and paired it with a token from  the game and pearls to make a sweet little bracelet that I think I will give to a friend's daughter when the challenge is over.

Owl Necklace

These are paper beads made from a paper bag painted copper, glass beads and an owl focal. The glass beads were $2 or so at Wal*mart and the focal (also from Wal*mart) was $3 so a pretty cheap project. I also had the findings on hand (jump rings, closure and crimps).

Blue Rose Necklace

Not sure why I haven't posted this, it is a blue rose necklace made with one of the cabochons in the PYP prizepack. I used E6000 to attach a jump ring and attached to a chain. CUTE!

Paper Bag Bead necklaces

I love these beads, they are fun to make and use whatever color acrylic paint you have...Here I have made them gold and copper.

Kool Aid Yarn dyeing

I was actually trying to locate a green Kool Aid flavor, but the two stores that I went to did not have any. So I settled for Cherry that I already had at the house. My wool yarn that I got from Goodwill was yellow but I read this does not matter as long as it is a light color, it will overdye. BTW, this is Cool Splashers brand so it doesn't need to be name brand.

Overdye it did.

As you can see, it has some places where it is still yellow, but I don't mind.

My question is, who wore it better? LOL. Before you feel bad for Durn, know he got some treats for this shot. Good kitty  =^^=

Ribbon Bracelet

I made this today in a very little amount of time for free. My favorite thing. I had everything on hand to make these in my stash and my ribbon that I had is even similar to Jutta's.

 I would like to point out our model's vintage hair, made with Honeybun yarn that I got from Goodwill. Trippy!

Baby's got a brand new bed

I made these with upcycled blankets, cloth I had on hand, clementine crates and Valspar Spray Paint in Exotic Sea (available at any Lowe's). I made a simple mattress with cloth, buttons and polyfil.

Bipolar Dolls

Here are my dolls. I call them my Bipolar dolls. I call them this because even though they are made from the same socks, they are different in how they look and their emotions. The last two sets were made for my friend Melanie, who said "I need these dolls in my life". Use the larger sizes for bigger dolls, smaller sizes for smaller dolls. I got the socks for $1 (3 pack) at the Dollar Tree and that makes two dolls. Gypsy Bracelet

I made this bracelet from an Arizona Green Tea can. You can get them at 7-11 literally all day long for $.99 a can and you get a lot of tea, and plus it tastes good. I usually get a couple at a time. I got a 3/4" hole punch from Michael's today and they were 40% off so I got to use my 50% off coupon on something else. Chris calls it a Gypsy Bracelet because it is shiny and is made from metal disks that make a jingling sound. It is a really cool bracelet. Turtle Necklace

I love Stephen King, and Chris (my husband) is reading The Dark Tower series which I read a long time ago. This in an awesome series of books that connects all of his books and characters and is a story about Roland of Gilead and some companions that he picks up along the way and his/their quest for the Dark Tower. There is a sigul of a turtle in it and he says that it (this necklace) reminds me of it. This is just like this necklace http://www.favecrafts.com/Pendants/Glitter-Bread-Dough-Pendant, free form the turtle (or whatever shape you like). I would have made him green but I didn't even know I was going to make a turtle, I intended to make a star. Instead of piercing the turtle (which I couldn't do) I glued a jump ring to it with E6000. The paper beads are made from rose print tissue paper from the Dollar Tree.

Package of pink beads from Dollar Tree-$1.00
strand of 8mm or 6mm glass pearls (I got mine from Micheal's) $1.00
set of ear wires (about 4 sets in  a pack for $1.47 at Hobby Lobby)
headpins (15 for $1.47 at Hobby Lobby)
Pliers with cutter on hand

Here are my earrings. It should be mentioned that you can make many more earrings and jewelry from the same package of beads and other supplies in the supply list.

Gather your supplies, you need two teardrops, two glass pearls, two headpins and two ear wires for these earrings. You also need a pair of wire pliers with cutters. 

Here is the package of beads you need so you can see what it looks like.

Clip headpin off so it is a straight wire. Bend wire 90 degrees into a loop.

Like so.

Add the teardrop.

Close end tightly and trim end.

Bend other end into a loop. Repeat this process with the remaining piece of wire (the piece you just cut) and one pearl and attach.

Attach to ear wire. Make sure you pinch loops shut well.

All done!
